FORM 222 THE AMERICAN RED CROSS NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS To Mr. Keppel. Date September 29, 1920. From Miss Ida F. Butler. Subject You will possibly remember a few weeks ago that you sent me a clipping from the Washington Times of a very ill advised interview, which had taken place between one of our nurses and a reporter. This had occured in Illinois, but evidently had been given to the Associated Press. In Miss Noyes' absence, I felt that it was a matter I must take up with the nurse, as she is a woman who has done very splendid work for us in Siberia as a Chief Nurse, and I felt sure that this unfortunate incident had been entirely unpremeditated, and innocent as far as the nurse was concerned. Her reply to my reminder that we had been warned against discussing such matters for publication shows such a good spirit in the way in which she accepted the reproof and her earnest desire to make any amends possible, that I thought you should see this letter, as long as the girl had been under rather severe criticism. May I ask you to return the attached letter, for our files. Thanking you, I am Very truly yours, Ian 7 Butin Acting Director, Department of Nursing. B/K RECEIVED
