DEPARTMENT OF THE AIR FORCE HEADQUARTERS 6986TH SECURITY GROUP (USAFSS) OF EST T APO SAN FRANCISCO 96270 REPLY TO M ATTN OF: HSC 15 Dec 1969 SUBJECT: Ann Magnussen Award TO: Field Director, American Red Cross APO 96519 Recommend that Mrs Marjorie D. Wallace be recognized for the American Red Cross Ann Magnussen Award, for her outstanding volunteer service to the military community of this station. Mrs Wallace was one of the prime movers in organizing all volunteer Red Cross activities at this isolated station which has been highly beneficial to the morale of all military and dependents assigned. In addition to her volunteer nursing duties at the Station Dispensary Mrs Wallace acts as Chairman of Caseworkers and provides: a. Counsel on personal, financial, and family problems. b. Assists in providing communication between servicemen at this station and their families in the US. C. Assistance for military and dependents in obtaining emergency leaves and advising and assisting them with travel arrange- ments and procedures of obtaining assistance while in the US. d. Daily services of a caseworker which was not available prior to Mrs Wallace being assigned to this station. Mrs Wallace's ability to effectively coordinate Red Cross and military activities and unselfish giving of her time makes Mrs Wallace a valuable aid in the Wakkanai Air Station's health, morale, and welfare Lare program.
