A questionnaire form entitled, "The American Red Cross, Burean of

Persontal Agency Reference," in re application of Miss Clarice Hunt, 1149 Madison
Avenue, Grand Rapids, Michigen, which was referred to Special Agent Fitch, by
Charles H. Bender, chairman, Red Cross Chapter, Grand Rapids, Michigan, was handed
to me by Special Agent Fitch with the request that I interview the references

given and investigate and report upon the loyalty, character and integrity of the

subject. The following people were interviewed regarding Miss Clarice Hunt:

Arline Whittemore, 1149 Madison Ave., all of this e ity and nack the following
information wes obtained in regard to the subjects
She is a faithful and ambitious worker of unquestionably good character; is abso-
lutely loyal and has no family relationships, business or social associations,
or had any residence in foreigh countries. She hap never been affiliated directly
or indirectly with any organization or propaganda in any way opposed to the posit-
ion taken by the United States in regard to the war or with known or suspected
agents of the enemy. She has no close relatives or intimate friends opposed to
the entry of the U. S. into the war or of the draft, Liberty Loan, or the shipping
of munitions to Erance and England. She has not been out of the United States or
even t he State of Michigan since August 1, 1914. Her father and mother were born
in the state of Maine.
Owing to the sincerity and devotion which Miss Hunt displays in
her chosen profession as nurse, her services are much songht after by friends and
physicians; all joining in wishing her as great a success in her proposed under-
