Extract from letter to Miss Beard from Miss MacLachlan - November 19, 1943 Sunshine Warren and Betty Wilson have been on detached service at St. Francis Hospital. On November 12, I called them back to Sacred Hearts Hospital for a permanent assignment, but they refused to return stating that they had accepted permanent employment at St. Francis Hospital. I asked them to send me a statement to that effect. Miss Wilson has used up all her leave time and did not send in a resignation, Miss Warren has some leave time due and did send one in. I am sending you the copy for your records. Enclosed is also your copy of Miss Specht's resignation. She has been on detached service at Waimea Hospital and is accepting a permanent posi- tion as Superintendent of that hospital. Miss Specht has done a very fine piece of work at Waimea and has im- pressed them of the importance of having a Chief Nurse worthy of the title and of the benefits derived from a good nursing service
