in February 6, 1942 Miss Sunshine E. Warren William Booth Hospital Covington, Kentucky My dear Miss Warren: I am enclosing herewith a new Red Cross Nursing Service member- ship card for you to replace your old one which was so soiled and badly worn. Certainly there is a place for you to serve even though you may not be able to pass the rigid Navy Nurse Corps physical examination. Every nurse has a plaee today and those of us who may be found not eligible to serve with the Military may make a contribution by participating in the nursing care of the civilian population. The important thing is that every registered professional nurse engage in nursing activity in some capacity. If this is done she may be sure that she too is making a contribution. Sincerely yours, Gertrude S. Banfield Asst. Director, Nursing Service GSB/mb
