Miss Ruth Waterbury,
Sep. 24,1920.
c/o Mrs. Barber,
916 Cresent Rd.,
Charleston, West Va.
My dear Miss Waterbury's
On receipt of your telegram to Miss Butlor we oalled the State Dept.
and found your application for passport had gone directly thore, and they,
not knowing you are to serve under the Red Cross, did not notify us. How-
ever, things aro straightened out now, and after all, it seems that you do
not require a passport to go to the Virgin Islonds.
Miss Butler asked me to write to you, and I am glad of the opportuni-
ty of recalling myself to you. I wonder if you remember me - at least, you
must pretend to, for I remember you so well and hope to see you when you
come to Washington. You will doubtless stop here on your way to "ew York
so that you can talle over the situntion with Miss Butler.
Tle will let you know just as soon as your sailing is secured. In the
meantime, if there is anything we can do to assist you do not hesitate to
call on us.
With best wishes, believe me
Very sincer ly yours,
Departmont of "ursing.
