Miss Ruth C. Waterbury.
S
c/o Mrs. J. Guy Woodward,
701 McDonough St..
Joliet, Ill.
My dear Miss Waterbury:
In my letter to you I quite forgot the important matter of equipment.
I
am enclosing to you our equipment card, which you will go over and check for the
things that you wish on it and then forward it to Mrs. Mande hoody. Bureau of
Jurses'Equipment, Atlantic Division. Ameri can Red Cross, 44 E. 23d. St., New York
City. In going over this list, let me cell your attention to the following
items:
You note it says both trench coat and ulster. I doubt in the Virgin Islands
if you need both as the climate there is even and never very cold, so I would
advise you to take whichever one of thege coate you think would be most useful to
you, especially in rainy weather, though I am very much afraid you would find the
trench coat yery heavyo Possibly if you wrote against trench coat "light weight
rain coat". Mrs. Moody would let you have that instead. You will want the suit,
which is dark blue serge, and white waists - possibly the flannel, though I should
imagine I would rather have the three white waiste without the flannel waist in
the Virgin Ialands. I should take all the hate offered me and the rubber boots,
also the sweater. The underclothing I leave to your judgment though I would not
say
that you would need woolens. In that case, you had better indicate in
writing against it that you want light weight wool or cotton. The gray uniforms
you will use for your school work as they are cotton and can be worn out-of-doors
in such weather as you will encounter.
When you send this card on to Mrs. Moody, tell her the date on which you will
be in New York on your way through to Boston and be sure at that time to sae her,
as you will be able to have your suit fitted and it will save time just before
you sail. I think that that covers the matter.
Yours sincerely
