C.\nJanuary 26, 1945.\nMiss Betty Lou Wilson,\nSt. Francis Hospital,\nHonolulu, HAWAII.\nAir Mail - Registered\nMy dear Miss Wilson:\nI am writing to check with you our accounts in the matter of the loan\nof $450 which was made to you by the American Red Cross at the time you\nundertook your assignment to the Office of Civilian Defense in Hawaii.\nAccording to our accounts you still have a balance of $151.55 due on this\nloan.\nYou will recall that this loan was made to you with the understanding\nthat it would be repaid immediately upon the receipt of reimbursement from\nthe Office of Civilian Defense in Hawaii, which reimbursement you received\non arrival there. As this loan was made to you nearly two years ago I am\nsure you realize that this should be cleared from your record at once. The\nfollowing is a copy of the agreements which you signed when this money was\nadvanced to you as a loan, on March 26, 1943 for $300, and on April 23, 1943\nfor $150:\n\"Having been duly appointed by the American Red Cross to serve with\nthe emergency civilian hospitals in the Hawaiian Islands, under the\nauspices of the Emergency Medical and Hospital Service of the\nTerritorial Office of Civilian Defense in the Territory of Hawaii,\nI, Betty Lou Wilson acknowledge the receipt of Three Hundred dollars\"\n(and \"One Hundred and Fifty dollars\") \" from the American Red Cross which\nI understand to be a personal advance to cover my travel and maintenance\nexpenses from my present place of employment to Hawaii. It is\nfurther understood that the Territorial Office of Civilian Defense\nhas agreed to reimburse me for the above mentioned expenses and I\nagree to liquidate this advance immediately upon the receipt of\nreimbursement from the O.C.D., and will repay amount of check to the\nAmerican Red Cross.\n\"\nThe balance due on your loan should be paid to this office - The American\nRed Cross, National Headquarters, Washington 13, .c.\nSincerely yours,\nVirginia m. Dunbar H\nVirginia M. Dunbar,\nDirector, Nursing Service.\nD/H"
