Dear Miss Beard:
RR-62-106
This is to report my arrival in Swarthmore, Pa., 31 January 1943.
When I was in London, I spoke to Captain Aaron, Chief of the United
States Nursing Corps in England, and asked her of the possibility of
my joining the A.N.C. She advised my return to the United States to
get my marital problem straightened out. I am planning an annulment
as soon as possible.
For the past five months, since the Harvard Unit disolved, I have
been working with the American Red Cross Service Club in Glasgow,
equipped the First Aid Room and did all First Aid in the club; contacted
the American Military patients in the hospitals in the Glasgow area;
did
Personnel Service Work, and Assistant Field Director's work.
Since the arrival of the American Red Cross Personnel for club
work, in the British Isles rolieved me of most of my duties, with the
exception of the First Aid Room, and taking care of any American Red
Cross Staff, I asked Miss Olson to rolieve me in order that I might
join the A.N.C.
I am having my cape cleaned and will send it to you, I have one
uniform, two overcoats, six white uniforms, three caps, which will be
returned to you if so desired. While in England, I lost my pin, the
number of which is 82860, I am enclosing $1.00 and would appreciate
your sending me another pin.
I enjoyed my work immensely in England and have brought with me
a
number of pictures taken on my trip to England and during my stay
in Salisbury, which I would, be glad to lend the American Red Cross if
they would be of benefit to their campaign, which I believe is to be
in March. I will, also, send my Field Voucher to you as soon as it
is completed.
Yours respectfully,
Catherine g. Wilson
