Connecticut, on
the 2 Tuesday of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight

year of our Lord one thousand That eight on hundred and sixty three Patrick Meagher Terry
of Hoodbury
in said County of Litehfield, being an alien and a free white person,
appeared in open Court, (the said Court being a Court of Record, having Common Law Jurisdietion, and
Clerk and Seal,) and applied to be admitted to become a citizen of the United States. And the said
Patrick a Meagher then exhibited to the Court a Certificate of the declaration of intention
made by him before the Superior Court for said sitchfille County
and required as the first condition according to the first section of the Act of Congress entitled "An Act to
establish an uniform rule of Naturalization, and to repeal the acts heretofore passed on that subject."
Approved 14th of April, 1802, follows: & amendments + additions madi
then to. asfollows.

of Hoodbury born in Simerick bo Irilana in said
County,
who

aged about

years, and on oath did declare that
it was bona fide his intention to become a CITIZEN OF THE
UNITED STATES, and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to every foreign Prince, Poten-
tate, State and Sovereignty, whatever-and particularly to
Victoria Dueen
of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, of whom he is now a subject. In Testimony Where-
of, I,
H.L.D. Buman
Clerk of said Court, have hereunto set my
hand, and Seal of the said Court, the day and year afqresaid.

And it appearing to the satisfaction of the Court, that said Patrick Meagher has resided
within the United States five years at least,
and in the State of Connecticut one year at least, and that during said five years
he has behaved as a man of good moral character, attached to the principles of the Constitution of the
United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same.

having declared on oath, that he would support
the CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES, and that he did absolutely and entirely renounce
and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty whatever, and
particularly to Victoria Queen
of the United Kingdom of
Great Britain and Ireland, of whom the was before a subject. It was therefore considered by the Court,
that Patrick Meagher
be, and he was accordingly admitted
to become a Citizen of the UNITED STATES.
