    "ocrText": "Madrid, Spain\nJune 15, 1952\nGeneral Lucius Clay\nContinental Can Co.\n100 East 42nd Street\nNew York, New York\nDear General Clay:\nI have obtained reservations at the Drake Hotel in\nChicago for the convention period and for two or three\ndays in advance of the opening of the convention.\nI want to be of any help I can in Chicago and even\nthough I can't be of help, I still want to be there.\nI have never attended a political convention and\nvery much would I like to be able to attend some of the\nproceedings in the convention hall, if that is possible,\nIt would be a great highlight for me if it could be made\npossible for me to hear the keynote speech.\nI am returning earlier than planned from Europe in\norder to take in the Chicago activities. I will arrive\nin New York about the 26th of June and will probably\nleave for Chicago on the 2nd or 3rd of July.\nthe\nI don't want to ask you to do the impossible or even\nanything that under the procedures would be most diffi-\ncult or embarrassing to you but if you could help in the\nways above suggested, I would be eternally grateful to\nyou.\nI am writing a similar letter to Mr. Paul Hoffman.\nMaybe the two of you can gang up on the organization for\nme I am anxious to carry a banner, toot a horn or even\nlead a parade.\nKind personal regards.\nSincerely,\nJacqueline Cochran"
