2. You may be interested in knowing that a bill
(H.R. 11252) has been introduced in Congress appropriat-
,
ing $2,000,000 for the use of our committee. It reads as
has
follows: "A BILL to amend the International Cultural Exchange
and Trade Fair Participation Act of 1956 by providing for
exchanges of athletes. Be it enacted by the Senate and
House of Representatives of the United States of America
in Congress assembled, that the International Cultural Ex-
change and Trade Fair Participation Act of 1956 (22 U.S.C.
1991-2001) is amended by adding at the end thereof the
following new section: 'SEC. 13. In addition to any other
authority conferred by this Act, the President is authorized
to provide--(1) tours in countries abroad by athletes from
the United States representing any field of sports, individ-
ually and in groups or teams, and tours in the United States
by such athletes from foreign countries; (2) assistance to
such athletes from foreign countries to enable them to per-
form and compete in the United States, and to learn about
the American way of life; and (3) publicity and promotion
of activities of the type provided for in this section.
SEC, 2. There is hereby authorized to be appropriated the
sum of $2,000,000 to be expended by the President through
the Pcople-to-People Sports Committee, Inc. in carrying
out the purposes of section 13 of the International Cultural
Exchange and Trade Foir Participation Act of 1956. "
