generalNotes
The original exhibit text read: "Black leaders continued to send personal appeals to the First Lady for assistance on government-related issues. In this letter, Mary McLeod Bethune recommended the appointment of Earl Dickerson to Franklin D. Roosevelt's newly formed Fair Employment Practices Committee (FEPC). Eleanor Roosevelt forwarded Bethune's letter to the President. Dickerson was later named to the five-member Committee."
