THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON
July 14, 1947
My dear Mrs. Roosevelt:
I appreciated your note of July sixth enclosing
an excerpt from a letter which had come to you
in regard to the Committee to look into the
economic situation of the United States. I have
asked the staff to look into the situation and see
what can be done about it.
This Congress seems to be doing everything
possible to hamstring the country and prevent
it from meeting its obligations.
There was an excellent editorial in the Washington
Post this morning on this situation, which I am
enclosing.
