HARRY s. TRUMAN
PEDERAL RESKIVE BANK MUTEDINO
KANSAS CITY, 6, MISSOURI
February 15, 1956
Dear Mrs. Roosevelt:
I appreciated your note of the tenth and I only wish
that I could say yes to the suggestion you make for
I would very much like to do it.
Confidentially, I have been invited to Oxford University
for a Degree. This invitation has been renewed for the
last three years and I had just promised to go to England
to accept it this spring.
I shall be leaving New York for Europe on the 11th of May.
For reasons that are well known to you, I am asking all
concerned that my plans to go to Europe be kept in con-
)
fidence.
I don't know when we have enjoyed a luncheon as much
as we did the one with you. Mrs. Truman and I still
talk about it. She received the recipe the other day
for that wonderful dessert and I am looking forward to
tasting it again.
Sincerely yours,
Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt
