My dear Miss Tully: The first salmon caught at Bangor (Maine) Salmon Pool for the 1944 season, landed after several weeks' con- stant fishing by our most practiced anglers, was delivered at the White House on Saturday by me on behalf of the Bangor Democratic Club, for the President. The President, an enthusiastic fisherman himself, will understand the pride this organization takes in presenting this trophy to him. In years past it has been our custom to make an event of this presentation, but in view of the emergency I.. felt that the Bangor Democratic Club would wish to add not at all to the President's burdens. However, if it is possible to obtain an acknowledge- ment of the President, which I may transmit to the Bangor Democratic Club, I am sure it would be greatly appreciated.
