June 24th 1942 Franklin Delano Roosevelt, 9-D President of the United States, Attention of: The White House, Miss Grace G. Tully. Washington, D.C. Secy. Dear President Roosevelt: I thought you would like to have the two maga- zines which accompany this letter, under separate cover. One of these magazines refers to the 1932 Campaign with x144-a Cartoons of yourself and Hoover. The rather sour express- X# ion on Mr. Hoover's face, brings to mind a comment that was made in an earlier Campaign by a friend of mine, who said, that he never saw a picture of him smiling. He tried to remedy this later, but not very successfully. In reference to the copy of Punch, I really think it is a noteworthy event, when the Supreme Court and our President, can break into a full-page illustra- tion, in their staid and steadfast magazine, The London x x48-a Punch. It may not be so amusing, but I thought you would like to have it for your scrap book or files.
