Mr. Milam has been Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Finance and Development since October 1985 covering international financial issues, including debt and investment, as well as intellectual property issues. He represents the United States at the Paris Club, the international forum for rescheduling of official debt, a duty he also performed for a while in 1982 and 1983. Mr. Milam entered the Foreign Service in 1962. He has served abroad in Martinique, French West Indies, as assistant economic officer in the U.S. Embassy in Monrovia, Liberia, as financial economist in the U.S. Embassy in London, and most recently, from September 1983 to August 1985, as Deputy Chief of Mission in the U.S. Embassy in Yaounde, Cameroon. Milam William B. Milam, a Minister-Counselor of the Senior Foreign Service, has since October 1985 been assigned as Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Finance and Development in the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs, Department of State. Prior to that, Mr. Milam was Deputy Chief of Mission in Yaounde, Cameroon from 1983 to 1985. Mr. Milam has also held the position of Financial/Economic Officer in London.
