Dear Jon:
This is to let you know I was pleased to receive a copy of your Program Plan for
continuing and extending the work of the Teachers Academy for Mathematics and
Science in Chicago. It is clear to me that you and your colleagues have done
considerable work in marshalling resources and talent to strengthen the substantive
knowledge and skills of teachers working in Chicago's classrooms.
I fully support efforts to strengthen the existing corps of professionally committed
elementary and secondary school teachers, and to provide them with the resources and
technologies which most other professions and sectors already have at hand.
However, beyond this note of encouragement and support, I am reluctant to provide
you with specific comments on the Plan. My position makes it necessary to avoid
direct involvement with grant applications. I expect the prospective funding agencies
and their reviewers to provide specific comments and ideas on such proposals.
Sincerely yours,
An

Dear Jon:
This is to let you know I was pleased to receive a copy of your Program Plan for continuing
and extending the work of the Teachers Academy for Mathematics and Science in Chicago.
It is clear to me that you and your colleagues have done considerable work and an
outstanding job in marshalling resources and talents in an effort to strengthen the
substantive knowledge and skills of teachers working in the Chicago's classrooms.
I fully support efforts to strengthen the existing corps of professionally-committed
elementary and secondary school teachers and to provide them with the resources and
technologies which most other professions and sectors already have at hand. However,
beyond this note of encouragement and support, I am reluctant to provide you with specific
comments on the Plan. My position in matters such as this is to expect the prospective
funding agencies and their reviewers to provide preliminary comments which might
strengthen proposals for funding consideration.
Sincerely yours,
