Downey, California Background
Downey is an LA suburb of 88,000, located in
Rep. Del Clawson's 33rd district. Although there
are more registered Democrats than Republicans, the
33rd is solidly Republican.
You will be speaking at a Republican Phone Bank
(paid for by the Republican National Committee).
The bank is calling for the President and Hayakawa
After identifying supporters, the callers are trying
to get volunteers for the Victory Squad---to get out
the vote on election day.
Elizabeth Rhodes, John's daughter, is working in
the bank. You will be met by Clawson, Dr. Robert
McClennan (loal GOP assemblyman) and Rosemary Ferraro,
one of the LA Ford chairmen.
