MEETING WITH CIVIC ORGANIZATIONS
Tuesday, April 29, 1975

The Oval Office/Cabinet Room

I.
PURPOSE
To recognize the accomplishments of the major Service
Clubs and provide encouragement for their activities.
II. BACKGROUND, PARTICIPANTS AND PRESS PLAN
A. Background: The leaders (Presidents and Executive
Directors) of these Service Clubs represent more
than 3 million Americans involved in community
betterment. Good citizenship is a precept common
to all these groups.
From 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. the 25 organizations will be
briefed in the Cabinet Room on Public Liaison activ-
ities and White House Operations by White House Staff
and the Refugee Program situation by Ambassador L.
Dean Brown.
At 2:00 p.m., the organizations will be brought
individually to the Oval Office for photographs with
the President. Following the Oval Office, they will
reassemble in the Cabinet Room where the President
will address the group.
After the Cabinet Room session, a White House tour is
arranged to be followed by a reception in the Staff
Mess.
