Report of Task Force on Banking Regulation\nTreasury\nNation\nPaul\nFORD & GERALD LIBRARY\nSUPPLEMENT TO TRADE POLICY PAPER\nMINISTERIAL MEETINGS WHERE TRADE ISSUES WILL BE DISCUSSED\n1.\nUNCTAD IV, to be held in Nairobi in May. The meeting\nwill focus primarily on commodities. The U.S. position\nwill be based on the comprehensive approach to commodities,\napproved by the EPB. The approach focuses on techniques\nto improve the functioning of commodity markets and includes\naspects of supply and market access, investment climate,\ninformation exchange, compensatory finance and market dis-\ntribution and production efficiency in LDC's. A paper is\nbeing prepared on buffer stocks for EPB consideration. The\nLDC's will be focusing on their integrated commodity program\nincluding consideration of future institutional arrangements\nfor dealing with individual commodities; common financing; and\nuse of compensatory financing.\n2.\nOECD Ministerial Meetings, to be held in Paris probably\non June 21-22. The first day will be chaired by foreign\nministers and the second day will be chaired by finance\nministers. In addition to a discussion of economic prospects,\nand the possible adoption of an OECD code for multinational\ncorporations, the meeting will cover the north-south dialogue,\nincluding progress made in both UNCTAD and CIEC, and renewal\nof the OECD Trade Pledge."
