THE WHITE HOUSE WASHINGTON Christmas 1976 TO THE MEN AND WOMEN VETERANS OF THE ARMED FORCES In this season of peace and goodwill, Americans are especially mindful of the sacrifices of those fellow citizens who have served in our Armed Forces and defended the freedom we cherish. On behalf of all your fellow countrymen, Mrs. Ford and I wish you and your loved ones that same peace and tranquility in your own lives which, by your patriotic service, you help ensure in our national life. We join in the hope that 1977 will bring you and your families great joy, happi- ness and the growing satisfaction that comes from knowing how very much your fellow citizens admire your past valor and appreciate your continuing contri- bution to our national security and well-being.
