CONVENTION. AUGUST 15-20. 1976
The following overview of the proposed events in which you may
participate during the Convention will provide background on each event.
Attire for all events is street dress and business suits. Temperatures
in the 80's during the day, 70's at night.
SUNDAY, AUGUST 15, 1976
Arrival - Kansas City
While the arrival of Air Force One at Kansas City Municipal Airport
will not be open to the public, your arrival with the President at Crown
Center - your Convention Headquarters - will provide public exposure.
Jack, Susan and Steve will all have arrived earlier and will be waiting
to greet you. You will proceed with the family to the suite on the 18th
floor. Also housed in Crown Center are the White House staff, President
Ford Committee staff and the Michigan Delegation.

Each delegation to the Convention will be honored through a reception

New York Reception - 8:00 p.m.
Beginning at 7:00 p. m., the New York delegation is holding a
reception honoring Vice President Rockefeller in the Grand Ballroom
at the Continental Hotel. New York State Chairman Richard Rosenbaum
and Vice President Rockefeller will meet you and escort you to the
reception. Shortly after arrival there will be a short program during
which a tribute will be given to the Vice President. You will be recognized
for brief remarks. Following informal greeting of guests, you will return
to the Crown Center.
MONDAY AUGUST 16, 1976
Convention Session 1 - 11:00 a.m.
The opening session of the 1976 Republican National Convention will
begin at 10:30 a.m. Steve will be in the First Family Box for the opening.
You will join him shortly after 11:00. Susan will go with you, having visited the
Missouri Caucus earlier in the morning. You will be seated in the first
tier seating and will have a "sky suite" assigned to the PFC available
for your use for break periods.

Presidentials Reception - 3:15 p.m.
Eight hundred young people have paid their own way to the Convention
to work for the President. They. along with young delegates and alternates
and Young Republicans will be in attendance at this "Future of Our Party"
reception. Upon arrival in the Centennial-A room of the Crown Center
you will join Rogers Morton on a platform for brief remarks. Due to
anticipated crowd, you will move out of the room following remarks and
proceed to your motorcade.

Illinois Reception - 3:45 p.m.
Marguerite Church is coming to the Convention to do missionary work
for the President and is hosting a reception for women delegates, wives,
and Republican women numbering some two hundred total. Held in the
Embassy Room of the Hilton Plaza Inn, an informal environment is
anticipated with no remarks.

Rhodes Reception - 5:40 p.m.
You will depart with the President for the Muehlebach Hotel where
you will attend a reception honoring Rep. Rhodes in the Colonial Room.

Convention Session 2 - 7:45 p.m.
The first evening session of the Convention has as its highlight
the keynote address by Senator Howard Baker (R. Tennessee) scheduled
for 8:15 p.m. You will be joined by Jack, Susan and Steve for the session.
Departure for the Crown Center will be flexible. Susan and Steve will
proceed independently to a dance at the Youth Center.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 17, 1976
National Republican Women's Federation Brunch - 10 45 a. m.
The National Republican Women's Federation is holding a Brunch
honoring "Women of Achievement" at the Alameda Plaza Hotel which is
also Reagan Headquarters. The program begins with the introduction of the
head table and opening remarks at 11:00 a. m. Following meal service, Pat
Hutar will recognize distinguished guests and introduce Mary Louise Smith
for remarks. You will be recognized for brief remarks following Mrs.
Smith and prior to the major address by Secretary Carla Hills. Susan
will also be seated at the head table, arriving late from the Minnesota,
Rhode Island Caucus.

Republican Women's Task Force Fundraiser - 3:45 p.m.
Elly Peterson has organized this reception and will greet you upon
arrival at the Radisson-Muehlebach Hotel Continental Room. As this
is an informal reception, Elly will escort you to a platform for a brief
introduction and response before you circulate among those in attendance.
No formal program will take place and you will return to your suite at
the Crown Center following the event.

that deals with the Platform where you will hear some of the debate on the
platform. Susan and Steve will proceed to Kansas City International Air-

join the President at the Crown Center for the remainder of the evening
Your return to the suite will remain flexible.

Prayer Breakfast - 7:45 a.m.
Congressman Bill Armstrong of Colorado has invited you, Mike
and Gayle to attend a Prayer Breakfast this morning. Hosted by
Governor Bond, the program will include Rep. A1 Quie, Pat Boone
and an address by Dr. Bill Bright, President of the Kansas City
City Crusade for Christ. You will be seated in the audience with other
guests. Your acceptance of this invitation has been qualified with
the understanding that a late night on Tuesday may preclude attendance.

United Republican Victory Luncheon - 11:45 p.m.
You will join the President and Jack in attending a portion of this
luncheon which is to kick off the Unity-Victory Drive of the Republican
National Committee. You and the President joined Governor and Mrs.

open the luncheon, Senator Laxalt and Vice President Rockefeller will
speak in the middle and Governor Reagan will close the program. You
will return to Crown Center for luncheon in your suite.

You and the President have invited the Pennsylvania and New Jersey

nates and their spouses. You will return to the suite for a private dinner.

This session is dedicated to the nomination and election of the
1976 Republican Party Presidential nominee. You will hear the
nominating speeches for all candidates as well as the roll call
balloting. Following the President's nomination you should anticipate

Arena will be flexible.

The President will announce his selection for Vice President at a
press conference in the Crown Center. Following the announcement, we

You have been invited to attend a reception sponsored by the National
Black Republican Council at the President Hotel. Details will be forth-

candidate and the President's acceptance speech which is scheduled
