THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON
September 3, 1976
MEMORANDUM FOR:
JIM CAVANAUGH
FROM:
MIKE DUVAL
while
SUBJECT:
ABORTION
Terry O'Donnell makes a good point: we should have a meeting
to discuss our abortion position before the President does
the Reasoner interview.
Since this may go as early as tomorrow, I suggest we have
the meeting today. For your information, Time Magazine is
doing a special story on abortion and, largely because of
Carter's mishandling of this, it is clearly becoming a
campaign issue of increasing importance.
I suggest you call a meeting to nail down our position and
invite Cannon, O'Neill (because of the Federal spending
question), Terry and myself.
