Ford Presidential Library FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE APRIL 15, 1975 Office of the White House Press Secretary NOTICE TO THE PRESS The President today announced the appointment of James M. Cannon, Assistant to the President for Domestic Affairs, as a member of the Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations for a term of two years. He succeeds Kenneth R. Cole, Jr. who resigned effective March 1, 1975. Mr. Cannon was appointed Assistant to the President for Domestic Affairs on February 13, 1975. The Commission was established by Public Law 86.380 of September 24, 1959, and consists of twenty-six members serving terms of two years. Of the twenty-six members, twenty are appointed by the President, three by the President of the Senate and three by the Speaker of the House. The Commission was established to maintain a continuing review of the operation of the Federal system and make recommendations for improvements. ###
