THE WHITE HOUSE
The President today announced that he would appoint eight
persons to be members of the Commission on Federal Paperwork.
The Commission was created by Public Law 93-556 of December 27,
1974. They are:
Donald C. Alexander, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Commissioner
of Internal Revenue, Cincinnati, Ohio.
Gilbert Barrett, of Albany, Georgia, Commissioner of
Dougherty County, Georgia.
Robert D. Benton, of Des Moines, Iowa, Superintendent
of Public Instruction for the State of Iowa.
Otis R. Bowen, of Breman, Indiana, Governor, State of
Indiana, Indianapolis, Indiana.
Bruce G. Fielding, of Saratoga, California, Partner in
the firm of Bruce G. Fielding & Co., Certified Public
Accountants, Mountain View, California.
Louis B. Knecht, of Rockville, Maryland, International
Secretary-Treasurer, Communications Workers of America,
Washington, D.C.
Mark D. Littler, of Petoskey, Michigan, retired, formerly
Partner in the firm of Arthur Anderson & Co., Detroit,
Michigan.
Esther Peterson, of the District of Columbia, Consumer
Advisor to Giant Food Co., and former Assistant Secretary
of Labor and former Special Assistant to the President.
The Commission on Federal Paperwork was created to study
paperwork generated by various government reporting require-
ments. It will review statutes, policies, rules, regulations,
procedures, and practices of the Federal Government relating
to information gathering processing and dissemination and the
management and control of these activities. Within two years
the Commission is to produce a report on its findings and will
then cease to exist.
The Director of the Office of Management and Budget and the
Comptroller General are ex officio members.
