NOTICE TO THE PRESS
The President today announced the appointment of Frederick W.
Rohlfing, of Honolulu, Hawaii, to be an Alternate Representative
of the United States of America on the South Pacific Commission
for a term of two years. He succeeds Aaron G. Marcus who has
resigned effective today.
Since 1970, Mr. Rohlfing has been in the private practice of law in
Honolulu, Hawaii. He began practicing law in 1955 after joining the
firm of Moore, Torkildson and Rice. He was elected to the Hawaii
State House of Representatives and served from 1959 to 1966. Since
1966 he has been a State Senator.
Mr. Rohlfing was born on November 2, 1928, in Honolulu, Hawaii.
He received his B.A. degree from Yale University and his LL. B.
degree from George Washington University in 1955. He did additional
graduate work at the University of Hawaii and attended the School
of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.
Mr. Rohlfing is married to the former Joan Halford and they have
three children. They reside in Honolulu, Hawaii.
