Pool ushered into roped off area of small reception room where about 125
persons, mixed crowd, half-dozen Blacks, some in business su suits all casual
sipped
at
citrus punch
no booze in sight. President arrived about 8:40 pm
for handshakes, smiles, appeared relaxed but was on other side of room.
In crowd were U. S. Reps. Guy Vander Jagt, chairman GOP Congressional Committee: :
Eash
Marvin Esch; Peter L. Fletcher, PFC chairman for Mich; Dick Cheney,
Wm Seidman; Paul Haerle, Calif. GOP chairman who "just happened to be in
town"; Seidman said from where he sat down front the firecracker "sonnded just
like some one had taken a shot at somebody" After 7 min pool ushered out.
