WASHINGTON (AP)-IN PREPARATION FOR THE 1972 ELECTION,
THE NIXON ADMINISTRATION HAS TOLD SOME OF THE NATION'S TOP BLACK
REPUBLICAN STATE APPOINTEES JUST WHAT HAS BEEN ACCOMPLISHED FOR
MINORITIES.
"THE PRESIDENT WILL BE COUNTING ON HIS RECORD TO DO HIS TALKING,"
SAID ROBERT BROWN. ONE OF NIXON'S SPECIAL ASSISTANTS.
THE PRESIDENT'S RECORD ON MINORITIES, CONTAINED IN A 12-PAGE
REORT. WAS GIVEN TO THE DELEGATION REPRESENTING THE GOVERNORS OF
CALIFORNIA, DELAWARE, ILLINOIS, MASSACHUSETTS, MICHIGAN, NEW JERSEY,
NEW YORK, VIRGINIA AND WASHINGTON.
THE DELEGATION ALSO HELD A SERIES OF QUESTION AND ANSWER SESSIONS
WITH SEVERAL MEMBERS OF THE WHITE HOUSE STAFF. INCLUDING HARRY DENT.
NIXON'S POLITICAL ADVISER: DANIEL KINGSLEY, SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO THE
PRESIDENT, AND ARTHUR MCZIER, ASSISTANT ADMINISTRATOR FOR MINORITY
ENTERPRISE IN THE SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION.
DENT GAVE THE GROUP AN "OVER-VIEW OF WHAT THE NIXON ADMINISTRATION
HAS BEEN DOING WITH RESPECT TO POLITICS, 19 SAID ROBERT KEYES, SPECIAL
ASSISTANT FOR COMMUNITY RELATIONS TO CALIFORNIA GOV. RONALD REAGAN.
"AND HE INDICATED GENERAL TRENDS OF GOING AFTER THE MINORITY
VOTER RATHER THAN SITTING BACK AND LETTING THE DEMOCRATS HAVE IT BY
DEFAULT.'
ONE DELEGATE SAID THE MORNING SESSION WAS PRIMARILY DEVOTED TO
ADMINISTRATION SPOKESMEN GIVING GENERAL OUTLINES OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS
GOALS.
"KEEP IN MIND THE BRIEFINGS ARE BRIEF, R SHE SAID.
THE AFTERNOON WAS DEVOTED TO A "RAP SESSION" WHERE THE DELEGATES
OFFERED CRITICISM WHICH, THEY SAID, WOULD BE CONFINED BEHIND THE
CLOSED DOORS.
