Presidential Message to Prime Minister Barre
We have cleared the following text of a message of congratulations
from the President to Prime Minister Barre, and it is being sent
via State channels.
BEGIN TEXT: Dear Mr. Prime Minister: Congratulations
on your assumption of the office of Prime Minister. In the
coming months our two countries will continue to play a
central role in the world community's efforts to promote a
more just and peaceful world order. The United States
looks forward to working with France on these endeavors
in that spirit of friendship which has characterized our two
countries' relationship for over 200 years. Sincerely,
