Personal. WHITE HOUSE, WASHINGTON. November 11, 1901. My dear Mr. Secretary: The positions of Register and Receiver at Buffalo, Wyoming, being at issue, Receiver Smock has been retained, and Register Getchell removed. Senator Warren insists that the man retained has been much less satisfactory in the way of doing business out there than the man removed. He says that Getchell attended to business all right, at his office. through not here In view of these facts would it not be well to remove Smock, the Receiver, also? Senator Warren says he is as respon- sible as Getchell for not answering letters. Very truly yours, J. Rosaelt Hon. E. A. Hitchcock, Secretary of the Interior.
