Geological Survey,\nWashington, D. c.\"\nSUBJECT.\nReservoir at Gore Canyon, Colo.\nAPD-EDW\nDEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR\nUNITED STATES GEOLOGICAL SURVEY\nWASHINGTON, D.C., May 29, 1905.\nThe Honorable,\nThe Secretary of the Interior,\nWashington, D. C.\nSir:\nI a.m in receipt by Departmental reference of the following\ntelegrams:\n\"The published report that the government will build a\nreservoir at Gore Canon, Colo. is injurious to the in-\nterests of Colorado and no t required by any interest\nlocal or national. I desire to enter my earnest protest\nagainst it as a waste of the irrigation fund for that purpose.\nH. M. Teller.\"\n\"Almost unanimous Colorado sentiment favors use Gore Canon\nby Denver North Western Ry and that use for irrigation\nproject should be subordinate thereto. Earnestly request\nDepartment will consider and protect local interests of\nvery great importance to State's development.\nF. E. Brooks.\"\n\"The people of First Congressional District regard building\nof North Western Railroad of vital importance to their\nwelfare and do not believe building of Gore Canon Dam\nwill benefit them, but will obstruct building of railroad.\nAs their representative respectfully and earnestly ob-\nject to appropriation of site for reservoir purposes.\nRobt. W. Bonyng.\"\n\"If irrigation project at Gore Canon Colorado will seriously\ninterfere with Moffat railroad through that country it\nought to be carefully considered. The railroad is of in-\ncalculable value to north western Colorado especially I\nbeg of the department not to impede the progress of that\ncountry.\nH. M. Hogg.\""
