SECRETARY
THE WHITE HOUSE,
OCT 2 1: 1906
WASHINGTON
OF
THE
October 23, 1906.
My dear Mr. Secretary:
The Secretary of Agriculture has asked for the
withdrawal of certain lands in the Forest Reserves
from all forms of entry, because they are needed for
headquarters for the forest rangers. He states that
this request is now held up for the majority of such
withdrawals, altho a few have already been made.
As
these lands may be located and the Government lose
them to the serious embarrassment of its work, the
President directs that they be withdrawn at once.
Very truly yours,
somey
Secretary to the President.
Hon. E. A. Hitchcock,
Secretary of the Interior.
