Truman\n219 North Delaware\nIndependence, Missouri\nDear Judge:\nI am enclosing a copy of letter I have\njust written Mr. Phares, Chairman of the Missouri\nState Highway Commission at Maryville, Missouri,\nwhich I hope you will take time to read. I know\nyou are on the other side of the ticket and I\nperhaps should not bother you with this matter,\nbut think it well to inform you of the existing\nconditions.\nI think that we are justified in making\nthis complaint to the State Highway Commission\nas I think they have been very unfair in awarding\nthe contract to an out-of-state concern when our\nbid was lower. I have sent a copy of my letter to\nMr. Phares to several of my friends, and hope to\nget some relief in the matter.\nI also wish to call your attention to\nthe article by Frank Ennis on the cover of the July\n12 issue of the Kansas Citian. Mr. Ennis happens\nto be on the Governing Board of the Boys Hotel,\nwhich installed one of our stokers last year and\nvouch for its wonderful performance. We do not\nhave to take a back seat to any one in the stoker\ngame.\nIf you have any comments to make or can\nassist us in any way without injuring yourself,\nwe will surely appreciate it. Would you suggest\nthat we write the other State Commissions.
