905 Church Street Ann Arbor, Michigan October 27, 1942 Dear Harry: I was so glad to get your letter from St. Louis and I want to tell you how very much I appreciate the length to whichyou went in this patent matter for me. I have been waiting to hear from Mr. Davis before answering you and his letter came yesterday. I was never so surprised in my life as at the way we were handled in Canada and I just can't figure it out. We not only had to pay all the costs and the expenses to which the defendant claimed he was put, but Mr. Davis was not able so far to save any of the $1500 bond he was required to post. I do not know whether this precludes us from ever opening up the case again, but I am of the opinion that it does as Mr. Davis makes no suggestion for any future action. The tought just flitted through my mind that it would be clever if4 after the war is over we could sell out to some other Canadian Steel Company who would make them pay, but I guess that would be im- possible, too. We were really expecting to go places with the Canadian Steel companies and it was rather a bright look- ing future. Mary-Jane was rather disappointed that Margaret went Pi Phi and the joke is on her as she wrote to the Theta chapter at the University of Missouri as we understood that was where she was planning to go. She sighs as she says: "Oh, well we didn't have a chapter at George Washington." This Roy of mine says he wishes you would come back to the Bomber Plant and cut the red tape so they could really get going. They have deferred him against his wishes until January 1st, 1943, at which time he is going to try to be re- leased to active duty. Thanks again and again for everything, Harry, and I hope at some time to be able to repay you for your interest and trouble. Sincerely, many
