Sunday aft. POTTHARK 2-12-73 Dearest Cousin Bess, If I'm not mistaken, the 14th of this month celebrates your birthday and I wanted to wish you my best for a lovely day. I know this winter has been a hard one for you, but you have such perserverence, I know you are making a remarkable adjustment. Lucile wrote the had had a nice visit with you last week. She said you looked so pretty and were very busy which I'm sure you are. I am thoroughly enjoying Margaret's book. I am reading it very slowly for I am absorbing everything in it is so interesting. It was certainly a labbr of love, but also very historical. She is to be congratulated on its success. Sometime I would like to impose on her for her autograph. Do you think she would mind? Ann Frances had to start wearing glasses this winter. I don't know why the fact shocked me so much but all of us had always had such good eyes, it never occured to me that one of the children might not inherit them. She purchased wire-rims of course and they do look very nice on her. Glasses seem to be some- what fashionable now, so it isn't quite so bad to have to wear them. She still has her braces on her teeth so she has received quite a lot of teasing about all the metal on her head. Gates has his XXXEEX appointments to have his braces applied the last of this month. AF has gotten along well with them so he doesn't seem to mind the thoughts He is very young to be getting them on so he will be equally as young when he gets them off so that is good. Sam enjoys his pre-school. He is quite a character and is probably the most stubborn child in a nice way I have ever been around! My love to you and know my thoughts are with you next
