This letter from the Millinery Fashion Bureau accompanied a hat given to First Lady Bess Wallace Truman. Mrs. Truman wrote the attached draft reply for her secretary to type. According to Mrs. Truman's note, she wore the hat on April 4, 1952, at the dedication of the carillon in Meridian Hill Park, which was a gift from the Netherlands. Queen Juliana of the Netherlands presented the gift.
