Dear Mr. Secretary:
I have your letter of recent date
concerning the request made by the Chief Counsel
of the Senate Investigations Subcommittee in-
vestigating the employment of homosexuals in
agencies of the Government. After a conference
with Senator Hoey, Chairman of the Subconittee,
on June 29, at which the request by your depart-
ment and other similar requests were discussed,
it was understood that the requests could be
disregarded for the time being. As soon as the
Subcomittee has made and established its pro-
cedures and policies, the matter will be can-
sidered further.
With best wishes,
Very sincerely yours,
DONALD S. DAWSON
Administrative Assistant
to the President
Honorable Charles Sawyer
The Secretary of Commerce
