Filed by MR. DAWSON NOV 13 1952 July 25, 1950 Dear Mr. Mitchell: I am returning the memorandum from Mr. Hatcher to Mr. Moyer dated July 14, 1950, concerning information requested by Mr. Flanagan, Counsel for the Hoey Committee. The type of information requested may be furnished; however, it should be noted that the President's directive of August 5, 1948, provides that material should be supplied to Congressional committees only on receipt of a written request from the Chairman of the Committee or other properly authorized official. Mr. Hatcher's memorandum states the attached pro- posed nemorandum furnishing the information desired by Mr. Flanagan "has been prepared omitting names of individuals." I cannot believe such to be the case as there are at least thirteen instances in which names have been mentioned and which have been circled in red on the memorandum which is returned herewith. All of the proposed information should be gone over with a fine tooth comb, not only for names but for other errors and inadvertencies which may still be there. Very sincerely yours, DONALD S. DAWSON Administrative Assistant to the President Honorable Harry B. Mitchell Chairman U. S. Civil Service Commission Washington, D. C.
