ARCHIVES AND RECORDS SERVICE" LIBRARY to the President BOVERNMENT The White House Washington, D. C. Dear Mr. Dawson: Reference is made to your letter of August 5, 1948, addressed to the Heads of Executive Departments and Agencies, con- cerning the release of investigative data to Congressional Committees. I have just received the attached letter from the Chief Counsel of the Senate Investigations Subcommittee, which is engaged in an investigation of the employment of homosexuals and other moral perverts in agencies of the Government. I will appreciate it if you will be good enough to advise me of the extent to which the Department of Commerce may comply with the Subcommittee's request for information. A Subcommittee staff member indicated verbally to us that the Subcommittee desires names and detailed information concerning the perversion cases which have come to our attention. I will be grateful for your early advice on this matter. Sincerely, Secretary of Commerce x Dept. RECEIVED FORVICTORY BUY UNITED JUN 23 1950 STATES WAR BONDS AND STAMPS DONALD S. DAWSON
