Organization:
Mr. Oram reported that offices had finally been secured at
the Empire State Building at very reasonable rental - $240 per
month for 1,300 square feet. It was also reported that office
space had been engaged for Washington offices at 1740 K Street,
N.W. and that Mr. Stein was then engaged in organizing the
Washington office.
Personnel:
The Committee approved the arrangement for engagement of
Mr. Harold Stein as Washington representative at the salary rate
of $10,000 per annum plus necessary expenses.
The Committee approved an arrangement for the engagement
of the Phoenix News Bureau headed by Miss Pauline Mandigo as
Publicity Representative in accordance with the terms of her
letter offer.
The Committee approved the engagement of Mr. Melvin Fox,
Special Consultant to the Carnegie Endowment for International
Peace, at the same terms in which he has just recently been em-
ployed part-time for the Committee on International Economic
Policy. Mr. Fox will work almost full time on this campaign
as Director of Research and Publication.
The arrangement for the engagement of Harold L. Oram, Inc.,
as Campaign Director in accordance with the terms outlined in their
letter to Mr. Moore, Treasurer, was approved.
The Committee approved the engagement of Mr. George Eberhardt,
formerly of CARE, at the salary rate of $4,800 per year, with the
title of Director of Organization and with the job of maintaining
liason with other organizations through whom the Committee will work.
Committee Secretary:
Mr. Frederick C. McKee was unanimously elected Secretary to
the Executive Committee.
Additions to the Executive Committee:
It was suggested by Mr. Hiss that at least one woman and
persons outside of New York be added to the Executive Committee
even if they were unable to attend meetings. It was agreed that
Committee members suggest such appropriate names for the next
meeting.
