CONFIDENTIAL
Dear Arthur:
I am grateful for your letter of May 12
regarding consideration at Paris of the ques-
tion of formalizing our right of access to
Berlin. This is a matter which I have very
much in mind. I agree with you and will
3.
make every effort to obtain Soviet formal
acknowledgment of our right during the
E ARCHIVES NATIONAL SERVICE" RECORDS AND
meeting. This is not to say that I am con-
fident that the Soviet represent tive will
be essily persuaded to provide such an
acknowledgment.
Thonk you for this helpful advice.
With warm regards.
Sincerely yours,
DEAN ACARESON
The Honorable
Arthur H. Vandenberg,
United States Senate.
