MEMORANDUM OF TELEPHONE CONVERSATION
Participants: Tracy S. Voorhees, Assistant Secretary
of the Army
Dean cheson, Secretary of State
Secretary Acheson telephoned Assistant Secretary Voorhees to
congratulate him on the excellent way he had handled the strike situation
and suggested to Mr. Voorhees that, should he be in communication with
Mr. Hayes, he let him know how pleased the Secretary is.
Mr. Voorhees said that the outlook is favorable unless the SMA
determine to sabotage, but at the moment it looks good, and as soon as
things were settled he was sending a cable to Hayes and would add the
Secretary's message.
