Item No. 2
The Republican Member on Far Eastern Study Group
I mentioned to the President the name of Mr.
Deutsch, Provost of the University of California,
and said that I was not certain whether or not he
is a Republican. The President interposed no ob-
jection and was not able to come up with any other
suggestion.
Since it has now been established that Mr.
Deutsch is a Democrat, we will have to consider
this matter further.
