CONFIDENTIAL 64 ARCHIVES "NATIONAL RECORDS SERVICE'' AMD 225 August 4, 1949 MEMORANDUM OF TELEPHONE CONVERSATION Subject: Guaranty under Point IV Senator Maybank telephoned the Secretary this morning. He said he had a bill in his Committee which some of the State Department people had told them to go ahead on, but he understood that the Secretary might want it held up until the Foreign Relations Committee had taken up another part of the program. The Senator wondered what to do about it in view of the probable delay in the Foreign Relations Committee's getting to it. The Secretary told the Senator it was the Department's wish that the Banking and Currency Committee go ahead with this matter. He said Secretary Snyder had some idea of not going ahead, but they had talked it over and the reservations of Secretary Snyder had been withdrawn and he was not readyto come up and testify whenever the Committee desired. The Senator said the Committee would go ahead with this mater. L. D. B. DECLASSIFIED E. O. 11652, Sec. 3(E) and S(D) or (E) Dept. of State letter, By NLT- HC , NARS Date 4-27-76 CONFIDENCIAL S:DHM
