SECRET c 287 October 20, 1949 s THINK Meeting with the President s ARCHIVES NATIONAL RECORDS AND Subject: Austrian Treaty Situation I informed the President that the matter of the Austrian Treaty had been discussed at the NSC that morning, and that the President would in due course receive the progress report of the State Department presenting the alternatives to be de- cided by him as well as some views of the National Military Establishment which I thought it highly desirable that he should know and consider. I suggested that after he had had time to study these papers he might wish to confirm this subject with Secretary Johnson and me. The President said that he would be glad to do this early next week.
