Muir, Assistant Chief of Protocol COPIES TO: S U ARA MID S/S-PR 1-1493 The newly appointed Ambassador of Guatemala, Señor Don Antonio Goubaud Carrera, called on me this date to present copies of his credentials and to request an appointment with the President. After the usual exchange of courtesies, I told the Ambassador how pleased the Department was to have him as the representstive of Guatemala in Washington. The Ambassador replied that he also was pleased and honored by being appointed as his country's representa- tive. After some further general conversation I told the Ambassador that I was looking forward to seeing and talking with him at greater length at some future time.
