At the close of his conversation with me this
afternoon regarding the Moroccan situation, the French
Ambassadcr left the attached aide memoire concerning
the distribution of monetary gold by the commission in
Brussels. The aide memoire was not discussed at all
since I indicated that I was unfamiliar with the subject.
M. Bonnet said that he would take it up with Mr. Thorp.
In leaving, the Ambassador said that he assumed we might
have some doubts about the French request since it would
involve the payment of some gold to Czechoslovakia, but
hoped that we would nonetheless give their request our
sympathetic consideration.
