Popoviteh, dalled on me at hia request. lie adcompanied by a man whon he described as his counselor to the uni, vho noted as interpreter. The Ambassador me what I thought about the Korean discussion in Committee 1. I moid that I hoped that the latest revision of the Indian draft, na further modified by the Danigh anendment, would be adopted today as an possible. It seened to me that further disquesion vould not be productive. The seened to and stated that it Vas his vier that the other side did not winh an amistice in Korea at present. The Ambassador then asked ne whether I thought there vould be any new develcoments when the new Administration took pover, so far as relations with his country vere concerned. I said that I did not anticipate anything of this sort. I thought that General Meonhover understood fully the importance of the increasing mod relationa with Tugoslavia and our common interest in the defense of Burope. Xnoving the confidence which General had in General Handy, I felt sure that he vould continue to exercize that confidence. I said that the military discussions had, I thowht, bean a useful beginning and, while thay hed not proceeded quite as far as might have been possible, they vere a further Indication of progresa in our mutual relations. The Ambasasdor then asloed me to do what I could to further the requesta vhich the Ambessador had made to the Acting Secretary for assistance in connection vith the droucht in Tugoslavis. I said that these natters were all in thehande of Mr. Bruce, but that when I returned to Yashington I voule confer with hin and do that I could to be of assistance. DECLASSIFIED The E.
